About the Bamboo Plant

Bamboo belongs to the grass family. There are 47 species with more than 1,000 varieties. Bamboo stalks mainly grow in East Asia and can reach up to 40 meters tall depending on the species.

Sustainability of Bamboo as a Raw Material

Bamboo plants develop an extensive root system from which new plants constantly grow back. All without artificial irrigation. This means the plants do not need to be replanted or fertilized.

Another advantage: Bamboo plants have a natural resistance to bacteria, so the use of herbicides and pesticides is not necessary. This makes bamboo viscose a good alternative to conventional cotton, which usually requires chemical pesticides and significantly more water.

Bamboo is also very resource-efficient: the grass can grow up to one meter per day. This characteristic makes bamboo a particularly fast-renewing raw material.

Production of Bamboo Viscose

The production process of bamboo viscose is comparable to other conventional viscose fabrics. For dyeing Les Lunes fabrics, only azo-free dyes are used.

How Does Bamboo Viscose Feel?

Bamboo viscose has the beautiful sheen of silk and can compete as a vegan alternative with the softness of cashmere. The lightweight material hugs your body like a second skin and delights with a buttery soft comfort. Bamboo viscose leaves a slightly cooling sensation on the skin, which is why we especially love the fabric in summer. Thanks to its temperature-regulating effect, clothing made from bamboo viscose also provides enough warmth in winter.

Clothing Made from Bamboo Viscose is Especially Durable

Textiles made from bamboo viscose impress with their durability and are ideal companions for everyday life. Our styles consist of 95% bamboo viscose. The 5% elastane content makes our bamboo viscose clothing super stretchy, so it easily grows with you even throughout the entire pregnancy.

Bamboo Viscose Has Antibacterial and Odor-Resistant Properties

Bamboo viscose helps you sweat less thanks to its temperature-regulating property and also prevents unpleasant odors. The fabric has a natural antibacterial effect, is breathable, and moisture-wicking.

Bamboo Viscose is Easy to Care For

Thanks to its antibacterial effect, it’s enough to wash bamboo clothing at just 30 degrees Celsius. Another advantage of bamboo viscose: it dries quickly and, due to its wrinkle-resistant property, does not need to be ironed.
