MATERIALS AND PACKAGING

From the fiber to the packaging – consciously chosen

Materials & Packaging

Sustainability starts for us with choosing the right materials. We ensure that our fabrics respect nature while also feeling comfortable on the skin. Bamboo grows especially fast, absorbs large amounts of CO₂, and requires no pesticides – a valuable raw material that we process into high-quality viscose. The production process is just as careful as with conventional viscose, but with the goal of acting as resource-efficiently as possible. For dyeing, we use only safe, azo-free colors, and all our fabrics carry the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate – tested and suitable even for the most sensitive skin. But our commitment doesn’t end with the fabric: our packaging also follows clear principles of the circular economy. Shipping bags and boxes are made from recycled paper, are FSC-certified, and fully recyclable. For additional protection, we use polybags made from cornstarch – a bioplastic that fully decomposes under industrial conditions. This way, we ensure that every detail – from fabric to shipping – is consciously designed and remains a small but noticeable difference for a more sustainable future.

VISCOSE (BAMBOO)

  • Bamboo grows up to one meter per day, making it a rapidly renewable resource.
  • Bamboo plants absorb up to four times more CO2 than other tree species.
  • No pesticides are used in the cultivation of our bamboo.
  • The production process of viscose (bamboo) is comparable to other conventional viscose processes.
  • Only azo-free dyes are used in the coloring process.
  • Our viscose (bamboo) is certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX.

Why our bamboo fabrics last longer

At Les Lunes, we believe softness and elegance should also stand the test of time. That’s why we use bamboo-based viscose blends made with the modal/lyocell process – stronger, smoother, and more durable than conventional cotton jersey.

What makes our fabrics so special?

Strength with every wash: Cotton is durable but loses durability with repeated hot washes. Modal and lyocell made from bamboo cellulose are designed to remain strong even when wet – so seams don’t give way and the fabric doesn’t thin out as quickly.

Stay smooth and beautiful

Cotton T-shirts tend to pill and fade after one season. Our bamboo fabrics naturally have a smooth fiber surface that prevents pilling – so your clothes look like new for longer.

Shape stability

Bamboo fabrics from the modal/lyocell family shrink less and retain their drape better than cotton. This means: no stretched-out necklines or warped hems after a few washes.

Less washing needed

Thanks to superior moisture regulation and natural odor resistance, our fabrics need to be washed less often than cotton. Less washing = less wear = longer lifespan.

Shipping Envelopes & Boxes

Our shipping bags are made from sturdy kraft paper and printed with water-based, solvent-free inks. This makes them 100% recyclable and they can be disposed of in the regular paper recycling stream. Our shipping boxes are made from 100% recycled paper and are also fully recyclable.

Both bags and boxes are FSC Mix certified, ensuring that the paper used comes from sustainably managed forests or from recycled materials.

👉 Concrete Impact 2024:

By using recycled paper for around 400,000 shipments per year, we estimate saving 4,000 kg of virgin fiber wood. That corresponds to about 80 mature trees that did not have to be cut down.

(Calculation: Avg. 10 g virgin fiber wood per box → 400,000 orders = 4,000 kg ≈ 80 trees at 50 kg wood each)

Our Polybag

To protect our clothing, we pack it in polythene bags made from cornstarch. This material is based on plant-based raw materials and is a certified bioplastic. Under industrial composting conditions, it fully biodegrades. Our packaging meets the requirements of the EN 13432 standard for compostable packaging, thereby contributing to a more sustainable circular economy.
